Compatibility

When I play the game and use Openfeint I sometimes experience slowdowns, is this normal?

If you are using an older device you may sometimes experience minor slowdowns when completing an Openfeint achievement or opening the dashboard. This should not affect gameplay or functionality, but if you wish you can always disable Openfeint at any time. Openfeint is only available in version 1.1 and up.

I am still running the firmware 3.1.1 or 3.1.2, will the game work on my device?

Yes the game is compatible with all versions after 3.0 up to the current one.

I have a 1st generation iPhone or iPod Touch - will I be able to play the game?

The game will install but since the first generation devices are using older hardware, you will not be able to run the game well. It will be slow and hard to play and we do not recommend it. The minimum requirements as stated on the AppStore are for a 2nd generation iPhone or iPod Touch or newer device.

General

How come I cannot adjust the music volume when listening to my own songs?

You need to use the iPhone or iPod actual volume when using your own music library since it’s playing external files.

It’s hard to play the game on my iPhone or iPod, I barely see anything and the screen is dark.

Try increasing the brightness. On your iPod or iPhone, go to “Settings” then “Brightness”. You will now be able to raise the brightness level which should help.

The game suddenly exists by itself while playing, what do I do?

This is normally due to high memory use. You may other Apps (process) running in the background. We recommend closing them before playing the game. If you don’t see any improvement, we recommend rebooting your device in order to free up memory. You can reboot your device by pressing and holding both the menu and power button.

I think I have found a “bug” or problem with the game, what should I do?

We have a team devoted to building quality games. In order to improve our products, it’s important to notify us of any issues you may be experiencing. Our game development team will make sure to address this issue and it will be fixed as part of the next update.

Will the game be maintained or updated on a regular basis?

Definitely, we will be maintaining and regularly updating the game. Updates will include fixes for unveiling issues and also extra game content.

Gameplay

What is riding "Fakie" and how can I get back in regular stance?

Fakie refers to riding a skateboard backwards from the way you would usually ride it. When riding Fakie, the skater has his or her feet set up so that whatever foot is usually the back foot is now up near the nose. Riding a skateboard Fakie often gets confused with riding a skateboard switch, as they look similar at a glance. In Mike V: Do or Die, you can switch your stance from Regular to Fakie or vice-versa by simply double-tapping the left side of the screen using your left thumb. The character will then execute a 180 power-slide to change it's stance. Tricks done while riding Fakie are a lot harder for most skateboarders and this is also reflected in the game as you will gain experience faster when executing tricks while in Fakie.

How can I access an event in Freeride mode?

You have to drive to a location and stop the car near the yellow marker. Then you have to put the car in “park” mode by pressing on “P” using the shifter at the right of your screen. The event will then load and you will be able to skate. If no marker is found at that specific location, this means that you have not unlocked this spot yet and will not be able to access it. Continue to play the current available locations until you gain enough experience to unlock new spots.

What is the difference between the Career and Freeride mode?

In Career mode, you can access any available location for a session of 3 minutes. You can also access the skateshop to customize your character, board and wheels. In Freeride mode you are able to drive around the city and access any available (previously unlocked) locations and skate without any time constraints. You can also customize your car including the paint job, window tints and wheels.

I cannot execute any air tricks or plants, how do you do them?

Air tricks are different from any other tricks. You need to swipe and hold your thumb after the swipe to do a grab. Make sure to release your thumb before landing to prevent bailing. Plants are executed the same way but need to be done on the transition prior going into air. A list of all the tricks is available in the Options menu.

Miscellaneous

How come I can`t view any videos from the website?

The website videos require the current “Flash player”. You will need to install it by visiting the Adobe Flash Player website in order to watch them. You may need to restart your web browser after the installation.

How can I install a ring tone from the website “Extras” page?

You can simply click on the ringtone to download the zip file. Once unzipped, you can click on the file and it should automatically get added to iTunes. If not, you can drag and drop the file into your iTunes ringtones. After you sync your iPhone, it will then be added and you will be able to assign it as your active ringtone.
